In the Dominican Republic we worked at Caribbean Mountain Academy, a home/program for troubled youth that have been taken from their homes and placed in a compound (a beautiful one) for emotional, and mental healing. The program is amazing, and we got to just hang out, mentor and pour love into broken closed off teens. by the end of our stay there lives were given to Christ, and walls were brought down... SO BEAUTIFUL! I love each and every one of these kids, my heart breaks for them. This is our team with Annie, Nancy, Alec, Franklin, Kenzo, Aro, Nadia, Alexander, and Meski. |
When mission groups would come down and exclaim how gorgeous the campus was I just wanted to scream and invite them to hang out Monday's after school when all the houses would wait on sessions. It didn't matter what pretty colors they use to paint a prison, it's still holding me captive. Also the dorms were anything but beautiful. No air conditioner, slats, twelve bodies (coupled with meals that weren't always so readily digested) and one fan every night? It sure did not smell beautiful in the morning.
ReplyDeleteAlso how many people had to fake being saved just to get the fuck out and shut twerps like these up?! I know I did. They "love each and every one" of the captives they ministered to? Once I let myself be saved during retreat, I got to 2nd within months, then 3rd a month and a half after that, then transferred to Marion for a few months before going home. I had sat on zero first for almost an entire year. Nothing endeared me more to my house staff then finding "salvation". Not taking accountability for my actions, not reluctantly living in their bizarre constructs of reality, not trying to resolve issues with my family despite a counterproductive "counselor" Annie Seabrooke, and certainly not being myself. It just highlighted what a bunch of bullshit the place was to me that honest efforts were punished while playing along with delusions was rewarded.
as a survivor of this very school you " christians" went to i can say you saw nothing of us kids who were being tortured and abused and you didnt help us.....im not impressed...every single missionary who came tehre shoving your god don our throats and saying how pretty of a place it was didnt see us kids...who were being abused .... "broken closed off teens"
